When it’s been a rough haul getting the foundation poured due to weather delays you have a 4:00 am pour! Shout out to our favorite concrete guys at Foundation Builders (we have been using them for 15 years) for making this happen! When the concrete is arriving at 4:00, the crew is there by 3:00 am! Oh, and the owner had to keep the road rolled between concrete trucks…all hands on deck for this one!

Everyone likes to see pretty pictures of finished projects. What isn’t shown as often are the mistakes made and (hopefully) corrected. In this case, the counter fabricator cut the sink about 1/8” too wide on each side (and an unnecessary odd niche). I saw this yesterday around 5:30 and they were back today at lunch to repair/replace and the owner never even saw it (they may know now 😂). We have worked with this guy for many many years and love his work and he never argued for a moment that we should accept this. Working with excellent crews doesn’t mean mistakes won’t happen, it just means they will take care of the problem.

Stained solid wood like this white oak is beautiful! Stained wood can be tricky to touch up and can easily show signs of use and wear. A few years ago we discovered this finish by and now this is our default when a client decides to use stain grade wood. The Krystal line of products is amazing when applied correctly. These photos were taken exactly 15 years ago today. This was our first house to build and at the time was such a leap for us! I had never built a house or run a company and just decided to dive in and figure out what we needed. Of course that was the business side, luckily we had Mike (dad) on the build side of things and without his knowledge and skills we would not have been able to build anything or be where we are today . We have learned and grown with each project since this first Spec house and we have built a business we are proud of. We have worked with many great home owners, sub contractors, sales reps, and big and small businesses over the years and are grateful to them (you) all.
