GSD Construction is honored to be building the Fifth Ward Technology Center (FWTC), a 16,000-square-foot renovation that will transform a former administration building into a modern hub for entrepreneurs, startups, and small businesses.

Designed by English+Associates Architects, the new facility will feature private offices, flexible workspaces, conference rooms, training areas, and collaborative spaces that support innovation, connection, and economic growth.

By revitalizing an existing property, this project will create new opportunities for the Fifth Ward community while providing an affordable place for local businesses to learn, grow, and succeed. We look forward to sharing the progress as this exciting project comes to life.

Revitalizing Fifth Ward, One Project at a Time.

GSD Construction is proud to be part of the transformation of the future Fifth Ward Technology Center. This ground-up development and rehabilitation project will create a collaborative hub designed to support entrepreneurs, small businesses, and innovation in the heart of Houston.

The project includes the renovation of an existing 16,000-square-foot building, new parking facilities, stormwater detention infrastructure, and modern co-working spaces featuring private offices, conference rooms, training areas, and flexible workspaces.

What was once a neglected 6,800-square-foot warehouse is now Local Group Brewing — a vibrant, modern destination designed to bring people together. Inspired by outer space, the brewery features bold murals, striking blue and yellow accents, warm wood finishes, and an open taproom that blends function with experience.

This tenant improvement project transformed a 7,200-square-foot warehouse into a fully operational craft brewery for Ovinnik Brewing. From upgraded mechanical and utility systems to the seamless integration of specialized brewing equipment, every detail was designed to support efficient production and workflow.

In collaboration with architect Lori Murphy, the space balances industrial performance with a welcoming brewery atmosphere—creating an environment that works just as hard behind the scenes as it does for the customer experience. 🍺
