Groundbreaking ceremonies come in many forms. For LT Foods Americas, this project began with a blessing.

Representatives from across LT Foods’ operations gathered for a traditional Hindu blessing ceremony before construction begins on their new 156,000 SF food distribution facility — a meaningful way to mark the start of an important new chapter.

LT Foods, the company behind brands like Daawat®, Royal®, Golden Star®, and 817 Elephant®, is known globally for its farm-to-fork approach to rice and grain production. KDW is proud to serve as the design-build partner for both this new distribution facility and the renovation of LT Foods’ existing packaging and processing operations.

This project reflects more than growth — it reflects a partnership that continues to expand alongside a company making an impact worldwide.

First concrete pours are up next, with completion expected in Q1 2027.

KDW was proud to sponsor and attend the 2026 Hooked On Veterans Houston Joshua Chamberlain Society Houston Event in Matagorda, Texas.

Events like these are about more than competition — they’re about community, connection, and supporting the veterans who have served our country. From the early morning send-off to the weigh-in and celebration afterward, it was great to spend time with an organization making a meaningful impact for our nation’s heroes.

Celebrating two careers at KDW!

Steven Benefield and Dean Roach are stepping into retirement, and we couldn't let the moment pass without recognizing the impact they've had here.

Both brought the kind of steady, experienced presence that keeps projects moving and teams grounded — not just in the work they completed, but in the standards they held and the people they worked alongside.

We're grateful for the time they put in and proud they chose to spend part of their careers here. Wishing them both a well-earned retirement.

When the weather stops, production shouldn’t have to.

KDW is currently constructing a 53,300 SF manufacturing facility for Geoquest USA in Waco — bringing their outdoor production operations indoors for the first time. Geoquest, formerly The Reinforced Earth Company USA, provides retaining walls and geotechnical structures that support critical infrastructure across the country, from highways and bridges to railways and ports.

With tens of thousands of structures in place nationwide, keeping production moving — rain or shine — is essential.

This new facility will provide a controlled, year-round environment that supports consistent productivity and a more efficient workflow for their team. All while construction continues alongside an active, fully operational plant.

We’re proud to continue our partnership with Geoquest, building on the trust established through previous projects — and delivering a facility that matches the scale and importance of their work.

In June 2023, a fire tore through Portacool's manufacturing plant in Center, Texas — taking with it 30 years of history and a significant
portion of their production facility. They didn't rebuild out of obligation. They rebuilt with intention.

KDW was brought back in to help make that happen.

We first built Portacool's main office building in 2016, so when they needed a trusted partner to lead the recovery effort, we were ready.
Our team completed a full design-build reconstruction and expansion of the fire-damaged facility in under a year:

Building A — 73,750 SF pre-engineered metal building, 32 feet tall, featuring metal siding, exhaust fans and louvers, a 7,000
SF interior powder room, and full fire sprinkler protection.

Building B — 39,000 SF open-structure storage building, 24 feet tall
Portacool makes the industry standard in portable evaporative cooling — products built to perform in the most demanding
environments. It was only fitting that their rebuild matched that same standard.

North Texas now has a recycling facility built for the region’s future, and KDW is proud to have built it.

KDW recently completed a 120,000 SF materials recovery facility in Frisco, Texas for Circular Services, the third project in our ongoing partnership. The facility serves Frisco, McKinney, and the surrounding Dallas metroplex, processing single-stream recyclables and keeping materials in circulation across North American markets. With numerous full-time environmental jobs created, the impact extends well beyond the building itself.

Circular Services, formerly known as Balcones Recycling, has had roots in Dallas since the 90s. This facility is the result of more than a decade of planning, and it shows. Cutting-edge sortation technology, solar panels, passive lighting, native landscaping, EV charging stations, and a public drop-off center for residents make this more than a warehouse. It’s a facility the entire region will benefit from for years to come.

Last week, KDW marked the groundbreaking of XSpace Houston — a new flexible space development coming to Houston's Design Center at 7022 Old Katy Road.

XSpace Houston will offer fully customizable units ranging from 800 to 10,000 SF, designed for entrepreneurs, collectors, creatives, and professionals seeking space that reflects how they actually work. The building features drive-up access, a car elevator, 20-foot ceilings, secure gated entry with 24/7 access, and a rooftop owners' lounge with views of Downtown, Uptown, and Memorial Park. Projected to open in 2027.

The project was designed by architect Francisco González-Pulido of FGP Atelier — whose portfolio includes the Felipe Ángeles International Airport in Mexico City and the Veer Towers in Las Vegas — and represents one of the more architecturally distinctive developments to come to the Design Center corridor.

For KDW, this is our second project with XSpace Group, following the completion of XSpace Austin — a four-story, 90,000 SF facility featuring 114 condominium units. As a fifth-generation, family-owned design-build firm with over 130 years of history in Texas, we take pride in the long-term partnerships we build alongside the projects themselves.

Employee Spotlight: Jake

At KDW, it’s the people behind the projects who continue to push our work forward — and Jake is a great example of that next-generation mindset.

Jake brings a thoughtful, forward-looking approach to construction, always looking beyond the first solution to find better, more efficient ways to build. His perspective reflects a generation that is both innovative and collaborative, helping strengthen the way we approach every project.

When it comes to growth, Jake emphasizes the importance of learning from those around you. Construction is built on shared knowledge, and he believes that asking questions and leaning on experienced team members is key to developing in the industry.

For Jake, “going beyond” means taking ownership — approaching each project with pride and responsibility, from the big picture down to the smallest details. It’s a mindset that ensures the work we do not only meets expectations but creates lasting value.

Looking ahead, Jake is focused on growing into a Project Manager role while continuing to contribute to meaningful projects that impact communities. For him, success is rooted in building long-term partnerships and delivering work that stands the test of time.
