We are back at the Pine Cove Campgrounds! 🌲

Our partnership with Pine Cove started with The Ridge, a 40-acre expansion KDW designed and built for high school-aged campers. Since then, we’ve returned again and again: camper, staff, and nurse cabins, two sports courts, restroom additions, a camp store, and the infrastructure for a FlowRider surfing attraction.

Now we’re building a new cabin for campers who stay on site for two full weeks. When camp lasts that long, the cabin becomes home. The 13,262 SF, two-story cabin includes eight bunk rooms that each sleep four EIGHT campers, and every bunk room has its own bathroom with two showers and two restrooms. A multipurpose room gives campers space to gather for events, a breakroom and kitchen offer a place to refuel, and a wraparound porch connects it all to the outdoors.

The building is wood framed with structural floor joists, roof trusses, and a metal roof. Construction began in late August, and the cabin is scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2027.

Camp clients aren’t just building facilities. They’re building programs that shape young lives, and we’re grateful to keep being part of Pine Cove’s mission.

Waller EDC is celebrating Manufacturing Month throughout October, and KDW is proud to be a co-Champion Sponsor alongside Welcome Group, LLC!

At this morning’s breakfast, Waller ISD Superintendent Bennie Mayes walked through the current and projected growth happening across the district and county:

- Enrollment grew 40.6% from 2019 to 2025, the 2nd highest percent growth among roughly 50 Region 4 districts
- The district’s 10,869 students are projected to grow to more than 39,000 by 2035-36
- The district’s population grew by more than 15,000 residents from 2019 to 2024
- Nearly 76,000 new housing occupancies are projected over the next decade

Growth at this pace brings new families, and with them new demand for schools, homes, and infrastructure, and the manufacturing and industrial facilities that create local jobs.

As a design-build firm with a long history of building for manufacturers in Waller County, we’re watching Waller closely and looking forward to helping build the future. spaces this growth will need.

Some of the best partnerships are built outside the jobsite.

Please join us in welcoming our three newest KDW team members!

H McMillan joins our Central Texas office as Senior Superintendent. He'll lead work in the field, keeping our job sites safe, on schedule, and running the way our clients expect.

Brenda Vasquez joins our Houston office as Project Administrator. She'll support our project teams day-to-day, keeping documentation and communication organized so our projects run smoothly from start to finish.

Victoria Esquivel joins us as BIM Coordinator. She'll be based in our Houston office and will support project teams across all three offices, helping us coordinate models and keep information moving from design through construction.

A first look at Ofland Smoky Mountains.

KDW is proud to be part of the team bringing this 75-cabin outdoor hotel to life in Townsend, TN.

Designed by Boundary Works, Ofland Smoky Mountains draws inspiration from the historic architecture of Appalachia, with natural wood siding, deep porches, and low-slung rooflines. Each cabin will feature a private deck, a wood-burning fire ring, and views of the surrounding mountains.

We can't wait to see this design come to life. Ofland Smoky Mountains is slated to open in summer 2027.

KDW is ahead of schedule and about a month away from completing a 53,300 SF manufacturing facility for Geoquest USA in Waco, TX.

Geoquest manufactures the retaining walls and geotechnical structures used behind highways, bridges, railways, and ports across the country. Until now, their Waco team has done that production outdoors, where weather can affect efficiency and productivity. The new facility will give Geoquest's team a controlled environment to work in year-round, maintaining maximum productivity regardless of weather conditions, and creating a more streamlined process for their employees.

While Geoquest’s existing plant has remained fully operational throughout construction, KDW crews are now finishing electrical work, pulling wire, and completing septic work.

We look forward to seeing the Geoquest team move into their new facility this fall.

KDW is proud to be partnering with LT Foods, the company behind Daawat®, Royal®, Golden Star®, and 817 Elephant®, on a new 156,000 SF food distribution facility.

Crews recently completed a 1,200 CY concrete pour for the building's tilt walls, a key structural milestone on the path to a Q1 2027 completion.

In addition to this new distribution facility, KDW is renovating LT Foods’ existing packaging and processing operations, helping support their farm-to-fork approach to rice and grain production.

We’re excited to see this project take shape and look forward to delivering a facility that supports LT Foods’ continued growth and operations.

The walls are going up at XSpace Houston.

Crews are now setting 40 stacked tilt wall panels, with the tallest reaching 92’ 2”. This is the tallest unsupported stacked free-standing tilt wall in the country. With every panel that goes up, the vision for the building becomes more tangible.

The concept was designed by FGP Atelier for entrepreneurs, collectors, creatives, and professionals. XSpace Houston is built around a simple idea: ownership should give people the freedom to create a space that works for them.

The finished building will feature fully customizable spaces, 20-foot ceilings, drive-up access, a two-car elevator, 24/7 access, and a rooftop owners’ lounge with views across Downtown, Uptown, and Memorial Park.

This marks our second project with XSpace Group, following XSpace Austin, which was recognized with a Tilt-Up Achievement Award from the Tilt-Up Concrete Association. We’re proud to continue this partnership and to watch the next XSpace take shape here in Houston and beyond.
