NEW EXECUTIVE ORDER: Financial institutions are facing new rules regarding the banking activities of non-citizens.

A new order from President Trump directs banks and federal agencies to increase scrutiny on individuals without legal status who are opening accounts, acquiring credit cards, or obtaining loans. The administration points to potential credit risks if customers are deported and unable to repay loans.

However, banking trade groups argue the directive could complicate standard processes and potentially minimize financial access for millions of consumers.
