When the job calls for precision over the water, our veteran crew is ready. We’re proud of the experience, skill, and attention to detail the Holes Incorporated team brought to this specialty project at Alabo Wharf. The mission: create a precise countersink for an electrical box while safely completing complex cutting and drilling in a demanding waterfront environment. Our team core drilled 4-inch-diameter holes to a depth of 24 inches for rigging; wire sawed a 5-foot-by-3-foot section through 24 inches of material; slab sawed a 6-foot-by-4-foot perimeter; cut 4 inches wide by 8 inches deep around the power-box perimeter; and completed 70 feet of diesel slab sawing at a depth of 6 inches. How do you free and relocate a 79,000-pound silo when the surrounding concrete is approximately 24 inches thick? For our team, the answer began with careful planning, specialty equipment, and a safe, precise approach to every cut.

What happened when the deep saw’s 60-inch blade could not reach the corners? The crew line drilled those areas, then used a DXR to break out the remaining concrete. Tight spaces between barriers created another challenge, requiring a three-foot-long point to reach the narrow areas and complete the work safely.

Once the silo was cut free at United Salt on Houston’s west side, how could it be moved without compromising the structure? The team carefully laid the silo intact on a trailer and prepared it for transport north of Conroe, where it could be repurposed for a new use. From extreme concrete thickness and hard-to-reach corners to restricted working space and the logistics of handling a massive intact structure, this specialty project showcased the planning, precision, and teamwork behind the Holes way.
