August 31st and we're all done with this absolutely beautiful raised patio! The last day of summer, and this homeowner is spending it on a patio that didn't exist a few weeks ago. That is what happens when you stop waiting and make the call.

Just because summer is coming to a close, doesn't mean we're calling it quits just yet! The real critics of every backyard we've ever built.

Dogs don't care about the stonework. They don't notice the precision of the paver layout or the quality of the drainage system underneath the patio. But they sure do know the difference between a backyard that is just a yard and one that is a place fit for royalty (them, obviously). For Maple here, this backyard pool setup is a 10 out of 10. 🏆

Good food, good conversation, warm air, and a space beautiful enough that nobody ever wants to go back inside. That's what comes next for this stone patio! 🙌

Stone is the foundation of timeless hardscape. Not a deck that weathers and splinters. Not a concrete slab that cracks and fades. A hand-laid stone surface, precisely leveled, properly sloped for drainage, and jointed tight enough to hold through decades of Michigan freeze-thaw without shifting. The Hamburg Mausoleum is a sacred space, the final resting place of members of this community, visited by families who are grieving, remembering, and honoring people they love. When we were asked to work on these grounds, we understood immediately that this project would require care.

The flowers and bushes are in and ready to honor for years on years and the benches have been set for the living to honor as well. Everything has been thoughtfully positioned to offer a peaceful place to sit, to be still, and to simply be present with someone you miss.

These details are extra important in a place like this.

We will share the full completed project when the gravel walk and paver entrance are finished. Until then, to every family who visits the Hamburg Mausoleum, we hope the work our crew has done here brings even a small measure of comfort and peace.

To those who rest here, and the families who carry them in their hearts, this work was done with you in mind.

The plantings are going in at the Hamburg Township Clocktower! 🌿🕐

We showed you the start progress earlier this week and today we're back at the Hamburg Township Clocktower Roundabout and the plantings are officially going in! 🌺🌿

Planting a community space like this is a different experience than private backyard projects. The plantings aren't just for one homeowner's taste or vision, the plants need to work for an entire community! 🌸

Right now these plants are fresh, small, and the soil is still dark and settled around their roots, but give them a season. These plantings are going to fill in and bloom out! 🌳☀️

And we're not done yet! The full reveal of the completed Clocktower Roundabout is coming soon! 👀🙌
