Day 2 of milling maple logs. Finished these a bit earlier than yesterday so the lighting was better for the photos. I am quite pleased with the results today, lots of color and spalt throughout the log. Now for the long wait while these dry.

Finally got to cut into something more interesting than southern yellow pine today. Opened up a pretty decent maple log, had some real nice color and a bit of spalting. It did unfortunately have one rot spot in it, but that's what epoxy is for.

I've been cutting lots of cedar today and tomorrow will be the same. Lots of interesting live edge pieces and 4/4 dimensional lumber. Keep an eye out for it coming up for sale.

Finally got the big oak Burl back on the mill. We had to get a little creative to to fit it through the mill, but we got it. We were scraping the blade guides on each side the whole way through.
Now it's time to wait for them to dry.

The slabs are averaging about 28x36 and are 9/4 thick.

It's been awhile since I posted anything. It's been very busy around making upgrades to the mill. I expect to be back in full operation in a few weeks. I've been building a new barn to store all my lumber in and it's almost done.
