🚨 While you’re changing your clocks, take a few minutes to check your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors!

✅ Test all smoke and CO alarms to ensure they’re working properly.

🔋 Replace batteries in alarms that use replaceable batteries, if needed.

📅 Check expiration dates! Smoke alarms should generally be replaced every 10 years, while CO alarm replacement intervals vary by manufacturer.

🏠 Make sure alarms are installed in the proper locations throughout your home.

Today is National Mesothelioma Awareness Day.

Mesothelioma took from us not only a great electrician, but an amazing husband, an incredible father, an adoring “Papa,” and my best friend.

Asbestos is not simply a thing of the past. It can still be found in thousands of products and materials around the world, including adhesives, wire insulation, pipe insulation, popcorn ceilings, cement products, and many others.

For those of us in the trades, this is especially important. If you have a loved one who works in the trades, encourage them to take the proper precautions—not only when working with materials from their own trade, but also when working around materials left behind by other trades.

The effects of asbestos exposure may not become apparent for decades. Mesothelioma can take as long as 50 years to reveal itself, making the precautions we take today incredibly important for the future.

In his memory, a portion of Cardinale Electric Company’s profits next week will be donated to support the fight against mesothelioma and the search for a cure.

Protect yourself. Protect your coworkers. Protect the people who are counting on you to come home.

🌧️⚡ NOR’EASTER ELECTRICAL SAFETY ⚡🌧️

With a Nor’easter expected to impact our area, Cardinale Electric Company wants to remind everyone to stay safe around electricity during heavy rain, strong winds, flooding, and possible power outages.

A few important reminders:

⚡ Stay away from downed power lines — always assume they are LIVE. Keep your distance and report them to your electric utility or emergency services.

💧 Never enter a flooded area if outlets, wiring, appliances, or other electrical equipment may be energized.

🔌 Unplug sensitive electronics, if you don’t have a whole-house surge protector, before the storm to help protect against power surges.

🔦 Prepare for outages — charge phones and battery packs ahead of time and keep flashlights readily available.

⚠️ Never approach an electrical panel through standing water.

🔌 Use generators safely. Always operate generators outdoors and away from windows, doors, and vents. Never connect a portable generator directly to your home’s wiring without an approved transfer method.

🌳 Watch for storm damage. Fallen trees and branches can bring electrical service wires down with them. Keep your distance and never attempt to move wires yourself.

⚡ After the storm, electrical equipment, outlets, wiring, or appliances exposed to water should be inspected before being put back into service.

When in doubt, don’t take the chance. Leave electrical hazards alone and call a qualified electrician.

We transformed this kitchen by relocating the original center light and installing two beautiful pendant lights over the island. We also upgraded the space with a new lighting layout featuring sleek can-less recessed lights.
