🎙 New episode of SMECO Connects is now available: 69-kV Transmission Line Rebuild

In this clip, Hugh Voehl explains how crews move equipment into work areas to rebuild SMECO’s 69-kV transmission line from the Chalk Point Generating Station to Hughesville. Much of the seven-mile right-of-way crosses saturated wetland, requiring crews to use composite matting. This matting forms a temporary road that supports heavy equipment and helps protect the environment. Once construction is complete and the matting is removed, the vegetation can recover.

🎙 New episode of SMECO Connects is now available: Polling Results from Maryland Now

In this clip, Josh Kurtz, founder of Maryland Matters, talks about affordability and inflation as Americans face higher costs across the board. Electricity demand is also reaching new highs. While there is discussion about building more power plants, they can take 10 to 15 years to construct after planning is complete. That leaves a gap between rising demand and the new supply to meet it.
