Promised the finished product and here it is. The lake had eaten this bank so much the old fence was sitting about a foot from the edge. We moved the entire fence line back twenty feet to make room for a bulkhead going in later. Cable fence went back in so the view stays completely open. This is what it looks like finished on Lake Houston.

We built this fence almost 4 years ago 👀

Drove past one of our installs from about four years ago and had to stop and take a few pictures. Eight foot tall board on board with cap and trim. It's not going to look like it just came out of the ground — that's just cedar aging naturally in Houston. But structurally it's exactly where it should be. Still standing straight, posts solid, no lean. That's what a properly built fence looks like three years later.

Just wrapped up this cable fence on Lake Houston. The second photo is a close up of the turnbuckle — that's what tensions each cable section and keeps everything tight and uniform. Most people never notice that detail but it's what makes the difference between a cable fence that stays clean and one that sags over time.

The bank on this Lake Houston HOA park has eroded so much that the existing fence is sitting about a foot from the edge — it's basically falling in. So we're moving the entire fence line back twenty feet to give them room to build a bulkhead and stop the erosion. Cable fence goes back in once the posts are set so the view stays wide open. Finished product coming soon.

Every city around Houston can have different fence height requirements. In the City of Roman Forest the maximum allowed height is 6'6". Build over that without knowing and you could be forced to tear it down. Check your local regulations before any fence goes in.

Full walkthrough of a commercial fence project for the City of Humble's wastewater treatment plant. The posts on this job are 4x4 metal with a 3/16" wall thickness set four feet deep in the ground. Eight foot pickets, four rails, two 12 inch rot boards — 10 feet total height. Everything built to municipal specifications for critical infrastructure.
