🏠 What started as a siding replacement turned into a whole lot more!
We just wrapped up this project in Holland that originally started with replacing siding that had been damaged by hail. Once we removed the existing siding, though, we quickly discovered there was much more going on underneath.
The concrete steps next to the door had sunk over time, allowing water to get into the area and causing significant damage. The door frame had begun to rot, so we let the homeowners know that the door would need to be replaced as well.
Then we removed the door... and found active termites. 😳
At that point, we stopped work in the affected area and contacted B&B Extermination. They came out, confirmed the termite activity and treated the area before we moved forward.
From there, we:
🛠️ Repaired the hidden water and rot damage
🚪 Installed a new exterior door
🔨 Built a new deck to replace the sinking concrete steps
🏠 Installed the new siding
🪟 Installed new shutters that give a nice pop of color
There is still a new storm door on order that we'll be back to install but we couldn't wait to share how beautifully this one turned out!
Sometimes you don't know exactly what you're going to find until you start opening things up. What was supposed to be a straightforward hail-damage repair ended up uncovering problems that could have become much worse if they hadn't been caught.
We're so glad we were able to get everything taken care of for these homeowners and give their home a fresh new look in the process! ❤️
