After 14 years these three walls at Pattee/Paterno Libraries seemed to come to life after a 7 hour renovation. Live walls can be long lasting but do need refreshed. Here on these magnificent walls, we learned that spider plants and ferns take over the other plants and must be kept "in bounds" where you want them. So they were donated to students in the Hort Dept and at the Library and other varieties (neon pothos, Florida beauty, grape ivy, Fittonia nerve plant, pearl and jade). It's fun to share this love of living wall culture with new employees and interns (Jeremy and Sarah May). Their help is much appreciated!

Some of our larger living walls are over a decade old and still looking fabulous. The dual walls with a water wall in the center located at the State College Regional Airport is one. The triad of walls connected by a planting bed at the Knowledge Commons student area at the Pattee/Paterno Library at Penn State University is another one. Time has been tested and the system and idea are still really good ones. We do upgrade and change out some plants monthly to keep them in check as some get overgrown and others get bullied out by nearby plants. But with a minimal cost these walls provide a fabulous statement in our accounts. So grateful we got to do these walls and that we still maintain them today!

Also shown are two more walls that are 5 and 6 years old respectively, the wall at Kish Innovation Center in Reedsville, PA and one of the three walls located in Collaboration Commons student study area at Penn State University.

These photos show Ron and Kurt and Janine installing them. A simple process, but the frames must be level. The water source is concealed in the framework. No irrigation or power needed for maintenance. So cute!

Another nice project we worked on this past year just finished last week of December - The Kish Innovation Center in Reedsville PA. Special thanks to Glenn Snyder of Kish Bank for his support and help with our work on this amazing feature wall. He is so easy to work for, as well as Rob Liptak and Taylor, et al, of Alexander Construction. Thanks to Kish for letting us be a part of their special new facility in Reedsville PA. Their sign will soon accompany our live wall and preserved moss wall on this stacked stone feature wall where you enter the new building.

Good week here at Green Thumb Services! Just finished the Yards at Old State Club House green features after having to remove and re-install the live wall. Special thanks to Scott and E B Enders in Huntingdon PA for collaboration on this unique trellis/bench feature that houses their signage. Turned out very nice. Our gratitude to Kinsley Construction, especially Kaitlin Stough - but also Andrew Bauman and Gerry Rangel. They had a tough job there and it turned out worth it all as the club house is simply amazing. Great place for tenants to unwind, exercise, swim, or simply enjoy the beautiful year-round indoor greenery.

Here are the pictures of the live wall being hung at the Yards at Old State. It is an amazing clubhouse that Toll Brothers is having built (by Kinsley Construction) in State College at their new housing development (mostly Penn State students). It is a state of the art complex with swimming, sauna, fireplaces, golf simulator, not tubs, etc. Grand opening in December probably. This is a sneak preview of the "green features" provided by us.
