When you’re swapping out old hinges and realize the existing screw holes + plastic dowels are in the wrong spot for the new standard soft-close hinges… 😅
And THEN you remember the doors are MDF, not solid wood.
You can’t just move the screws over and hope they hold. MDF can strip out over time, and that’s definitely not a risk I’m willing to take on a finished project.
If these were wood doors, this would probably be a much easier fix. But MDF? Different story.
Thankfully, a local cabinet maker came to the rescue and let me borrow his Blum hinge jig so I could accurately drill the new holes and get these hinges installed properly.
Sometimes the job is less about the painting and refinishing and more about figuring out how in the world do I make things work out. 😂
