Lighting off our first understory prescribed burns this season!

Awesome to kick it off on our personal property - Arborwood!!

I’m so fortunate to get to do what I was absolutely put on this earth to do. It’s in my very soul to work these woods.

It’s not work if it’s your passion!

We had a great week at the Texas Forestry Association Meeting!

Joe showing his leadership skills organizing the Burn Managers Course and helping with the Conference organizing in many ways including the Golf Tournament and Fun Run!

Then Caden, 10 months out of school, working hard on Tree Farm and being recognized as Inspector of the Year!

Also extremely proud of how our State ACF Chapter continues to excel. This new Distinguished Forester Award deservedly recognizing Justin Penick of Acorn Forestry!

The red flowering on this Cardinal Plant (thank you for the ID Jim Turner) caught my eye 100 yards away. We just don’t see much blooming this time of year.

Always a good day to be in the woods!

Pleased to add a green 🦌 to our yellow 🦌🦌🦌. I’ve not mixed a herd before. Hopefully they’ll get along.

Quite often, following planting in the winter, we conduct a practice in the spring called BANDING. Most often in old fields or pastures. We follow a very precise herbaceous mix and apply over the recently planted trees. The mix kills back the grasses without harming the seedlings This gives our seedlings a better chance to survive that first year.

Grasses can rob water and essentially kill these trees in their first year or two. Once trees establish a root system the grasses no longer present a problem.

Today marks the 20th anniversary of the day Lone Star Forestry, LLC was created.

Thanks to all the clients who had faith and have come along for the journey. I’m forever grateful to you all!

Thanks also to the people that have worked here, past and present. This couldn’t have been built and the dream made reality without you all!

I especially want to thank my sweet wife, Shelley, for bearing with me, keeping me grounded and helping ‘chase the dream’!

Looking forward to our next 20 and seeing where we go!!

Proud to see this article featuring a couple and their passion for good land stewardship!

Check this out! Our real estate agent, Robbi Flack Langley and her husband, Ryan, were featured in Texas Forestry Magazine! They're continuing a strong family tradition of land stewardship and recently renewed their Texas Forestry Association membership as Life Members, following in the footsteps of Robbi's parents, Andy and Laurie Flack.

We especially love what Robbi said: "We recommend to all our clients that they use a professional forester for land management, because they're an advocate for you in that they protect your land and make sure you get the best price for your timber."

We're so proud of both of you and your commitment to staying informed and involved in sustainable forest management!
