BEHIND THE BUILD | Rivers Health Emergency Department

Renovating and expanding an active healthcare facility requires careful coordination long before the finished spaces take shape.

During MIRC Construction Services’ work at Rivers Health in Point Pleasant, selective demolition, temporary shoring, floor demolition and existing building systems all had to be coordinated as construction progressed around ongoing hospital operations.

The completed project combined renovation and new construction to create a modern emergency-care environment for Rivers Health and the Point Pleasant community.

PROJECT SPOTLIGHT | St. Mary’s TrueBeam Renovation

Specialized medical equipment changes the way a renovation has to be built.

MIRC Construction Services renovated the existing linear accelerator suite at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington to accommodate a new Varian TrueBeam system.

The work included selective demolition, structural coordination, a new concrete equipment baseframe, radiation shielding, underslab electrical pathways, medical-gas relocation and coordinated mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire-protection improvements.

The renovation was completed within the hospital’s active Radiation Oncology department, requiring careful separation of construction activities from occupied patient-care areas.

Construction is moving forward on the new Barboursville Healthcare Center.

Since the groundbreaking ceremony, crews have been busy with early sitework, including earthwork, grading, site utilities and preparation of the building pad for the approximately 60,000-square-foot, 124-bed skilled nursing facility in Barboursville, West Virginia.

Even at this early stage, the project is beginning to take shape. Survey layout across the site is establishing the locations and elevations that will guide the next phases of construction as work continues.

We look forward to sharing more progress as construction moves forward.

Advanced medical technology requires construction shaped around exact equipment, structural and building-system requirements.

MIRC Construction Services renovated the existing CyberKnife suite at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, preparing the existing treatment environment for installation of a new Accuray CyberKnife S7 system.

The project included architectural renovations, structural coordination and mechanical, electrical and plumbing improvements within the existing radiation-oncology facility.

MIRC Construction Services was proud to join U.S. Senator Jim Justice, Marshall Health Network, Rivers Health, community leaders and project partners in celebrating the new Rivers Health Emergency Department in Point Pleasant.

As the general contractor, MIRC Construction Services was honored to help bring this important healthcare project to completion. The new department includes modern trauma rooms, a dedicated pediatric room, updated clinical and support spaces, and a welcoming environment designed to serve patients and caregivers for years to come.

Projects like this are about more than construction—they strengthen the care available close to home. Thank you to everyone whose planning, expertise, collaboration and hard work made this milestone possible.
