Pro tip of the day:
Be mindful when running a pellet or wood stove during extreme sub-zero temperatures alongside a hydronic heating system AKA (hot water baseboards or cast-iron radiators).
The heat from wood & pellet stoves can influence your thermostat long enough so that the primary heating system stays idle for long periods of time, preventing water from circulating through the lines.
Without circulation—especially in systems that haven't been treated with antifreeze—pipes & radiators can freeze, break, and cause significant damage.
