The yard you want next summer? It starts with what you do this fall.

Before installation begins, there’s a lot that goes into creating a space that actually works for your home, your lifestyle, and the way you want to use your yard.

So while your yard might be winding down for the season, your next outdoor space could just be getting started.

Summer may be winding down, but your irrigation system still has work to do.

Before you officially call it a season, give your irrigation system one last end-of-summer check.

Look for:

💧 Broken or clogged sprinkler heads
💧 Leaks or puddling
💧 Zones that aren’t spraying evenly
💧 Sprinklers watering sidewalks, driveways, or other places they shouldn’t
💧 A timer that’s still running on your peak-summer schedule

And don’t forget, your landscape’s water needs change as temperatures cool. Adjusting your irrigation schedule can help prevent overwatering and unnecessary water waste.

A quick inspection now can also help catch small issues before they turn into bigger, more expensive problems, and it gives you a chance to take care of repairs before winterization.

Overgrown shrubs can make a beautiful landscape look messy FAST.

And during the summer, it doesn’t take long for things to get a little out of control.

Strategic pruning helps clean up unwanted growth, remove dead or damaged branches, and keep your trees and shrubs looking healthy and well-shaped.

It’s a simple step that can make your whole landscape look more polished while helping your plants thrive.

What would make you use your backyard more?

A little room to run around? A spot to sit and catch up? A fire to gather around when the day winds down?

When designing your outdoor space, let how you plan to use the space guide your decisions.

Why do some backyards just feel better?

You may not be able to name what’s different, but a landscape designer can spot it immediately. And surprisingly, it’s rarely the biggest or most expensive feature.

Swipe through to see what can give your backyard that same well-designed feel.

Does your backyard have a curfew?

You know the one: the sun goes down, it gets dark, and suddenly everyone heads inside. And that’s a shame because fall is when your backyard starts getting really good. Crisp evenings. Cooler temperatures. Perfect fire-pit weather.

Good landscape lighting can get rid of that unofficial curfew. By lighting patios, walkways, fire pits, and gathering spaces, you can keep enjoying your backyard long after sunset.

Fall evenings are too good to waste inside.

What would make you spend more time in your backyard?

Maybe it’s a place to sit around the fire after dinner. A shady spot to hang out on a summer afternoon. Or a space where friends and family actually want to gather.

A great backyard gives you another place to live.

When we design an outdoor space, that’s a big part of the conversation: How do you want to use it? From patios and pergolas to fire features and outdoor kitchens, the details should make your backyard fit the way you want to spend your time.
