Colorado Forestry & Fire Mitigation (CFFM) is hiring an experienced Forestry Hand / Chainsaw
Operator to join our field team working across Jefferson County and surrounding mountain
communities.
We are a small, highly field-focused company specializing in wildland fuel reduction, defensible space
creation, and mid-sized private acreage mitigation projects. Since 2021, we’ve treated hundreds of
acres with a focus on quality work, safety, and long-term wildfire resilience.
This is not entry-level labor. We are looking for someone who already knows how to work in the woods
and can contribute on day one.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Advanced chainsaw operations (felling, limbing, bucking in mixed terrain)
- Fuels reduction and forest thinning projects
- Hazard tree removal on private acreage
- Brush and ladder fuel mitigation
- Working in steep, uneven, and remote terrain
- Supporting small, efficient crews in production-driven field work
Who We Want:
We’re looking for a self-sufficient, field-proven operator who is comfortable working in real forestry
conditions.
Strong candidates will have:
- Prior experience in forestry, wildfire mitigation, logging, arborist work, or heavy land clearing
- Confident, safe chainsaw handling skills in varied conditions
- Mechanical aptitude (equipment, saws, small engines, etc.)
- Ability to read terrain and work efficiently without constant direction
- Strong work ethic and pride in producing clean, finished work
- Experience working in small, fast-moving crews
Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license
- Reliable personal transportation (required)
- Must live within ~30 minutes of Evergreen, CO
- Ability to work 30–50 hours/week during season
- Physically capable of sustained, demanding outdoor labor
- Comfortable working in changing weather, steep ground, and remote sites
Position Type & Pay:
- Seasonal role with strong path to full-time
- Pay: $18–$30/hour depending on experience and skill level
- 30–50 hours/week depending on season
