Dear Meta for Business ,
Please do something about these scam artists posing as official Meta communication.
I never know if something like this is legitimate or not, and my business page has been suspended twice in the past for no apparent reason after receiving one of these, what some call "sketchy," communications via Messenger. It appears as though they falsely report a business as violating some Meta term of usage if the targeted business does not respond.
I will NEVER click a link on anything within a message in Messenger. That by itself is a colossal security risk.
There needs to be some way of confirming the authenticity of comms from Meta, especially when of this nature. You, Meta, need to put out some public relations messages about how an official Meta communication to a business should look and from what source it should arrive. If via Messenger, then YOU MUST make a better effort to safeguard against fraud and abuse of your platform.
The account that sent the attached message has no Meta related avatar, the link to their profile doesn't work, but their message and the links within remain. The link bears no mention of Facebook or Meta. The past two times I refused to comply with a message very much like this one, my business page was suspended.
In this age of social media advertising, there is a tremendous responsibility on the part of users to ensure that we do not fall victim to scams. As the host of such a media platform, YOU have a responsibility to curb such rampant malicious actions as well.
Meta falls short of that responsibility with the horrible lack of ability for a business to communicate with Meta when such a thing occurs. As a result, I have no choice but to limit my reliance on such an unstable, unsecure, and irresponsible platform to promote my business. To rely upon it would be irresponsible on my part, at least until this sort of low level cyber-terrorism is properly addressed.
Thank you,
