Hey friends! Passing by a new home construction area today I saw something that made me cringe — houses being built inside of a bowl. Guess what’s going to happen when it rains… 🥴
If you’re looking to buy, make sure you ride by during a storm if possible. It’ll save you a lot of headache and money later if the drainage and grading issues are handled properly before erosion.

Started with a hill and brush and a very wet yard, courtesy of crapping neighborhood grading.

Began the project by burying a culvert pipe along the current hill and bringing dirt from the hill to cover and make less angle. With their yard being the last on the block, all their neighbors backyard runoff ended up in their yard.
Big granite rocks were found behind the property and moved to frame the culvert end. Next, a retention wall was constructed and secured with rebar & concrete (by hand). Homeowner added sod and lighting.
