🍄 Spotted this in your mulch?
Believe it or not, it’s called dog vomit slime mold (yes, that’s really its name 😅).
This unusual slime mold can appear in several colors, including yellow, orange, white, gray, and brown.
While it may look alarming, it’s often a sign that organic mulch is naturally breaking down and doing exactly what it’s supposed to do.
As mulch decomposes, organisms like this help break down organic matter and return nutrients to the soil.
The good news? In most cases, dog vomit slime mold is harmless to healthy plants and is primarily a cosmetic concern.
Nature isn’t always pretty, but sometimes it’s a sign that your landscape is working exactly as intended. 🌿
Have you ever spotted this in your landscape beds? 👀
