Why scope your sewer?

There are several good reasons to see inside your sewer.
1. When buying a home, most people have a home inspection, however in most cases that does not include a sewer inspection. Do you know that a sewer replacement can be one of the most expensive repairs that can be done to a home? Many times we get called out to a home our customer just bought and we can't get the main drain open. The customer has already closed on the house and has to either pay for the repair themselves or fight with the sellers. Either way they are not enjoying there new home let alone the expense that occurs. Have a sewer inspection done before signing on the dotted line.
2. If your having a main drain stoppage (where all the drains are backing up) more than once a year, then you probably have some serious issues. The roots may be breaking the main drain; this occurs from several years of having tree roots growing into the drain. The stoppages can be caused from not having enough slope or having back fall on the drain. This causes the paper and waste not to flow out of the private sewer into the city sewer. Having the main drain scoped can give the homeowners an idea of how bad the condition of the pipe and possibly give them time to save for needed repairs.
3. If your selling your home and want piece of mind that the new owners will be satisfied and \ or not have any problems that (you may have to pay for after the sale in completed), have a sewer inspection done. We have the ability to record the scoping of your sewer and you can leave it with the new home owners. This will show them that you have taken extra steps for them to enjoy their new home and that they don't have to worry about any unexpected expenses in the near future.

GARBAGE DISPOSAL PROBLEMS?
FIRST TRY THIS…

Did you know that there is a reset button on the bottom of your garbage disposal?
Most people don’t.

If you turn your garbage disposal on and it doesn’t work, first listen for a humming noise. If there is not a noise, try the reset button on the bottom of the disposal.

If it is making a humming noise, it’s probably jammed. There may be something you can do to get it working again. Ninety-nine percent of garbage disposals have a hole underneath that allows you to handcrank it free once it's been jammed. You can either use a 1/4" alan key or a garbage disposal tool in this situation.

If this doesn’t work, give us a call for a free in-home estimate to see if we can repair it or if it needs replaced.

Hello friends, For the next couple of days Indianapolis is going to get dumped on with a lot of rain. Just about an hour ago we had 1" of rain in a few minutes. That's a lot of rain for basement sump pumps to handle. We have started selling "Pump Alarm". This alarm system sends alerts to your phone if your sump pump fails. Plumbing 101 tip #1

Do you know where your main water shut-off valve is located? If you have a leak or a broken water line will you be able to shut the water off quickly? Many times in Indiana, there is a water meter pit in the yard with a main shut-off valve next to the meter. This is usually the case if you live in a new home, your water line has been replaced, or if your older home is on a concrete slab or has a crawl space. If you live in an older home with a basement, usually the main shut-off valve is on the outside wall where the water line comes into the house. If you can not locate your main shut-off valve, call your plumber and have them locate it. They can also inspect the valve to assure that it is working properly. By shutting off the main water shut-off valve you could save hundreds if not thousands of dollars in water damage while waiting for a plumbing company to arrive.
