These are all the same shrubs in these pictures ➡️ just reduced to half of the size. They will fill back out nicely by next year and will be a fraction of the size. No more issues with mowing clearance, or simply walking around without having to duck under or lean away from. Also, you may uncover a garage light, address plaque, or possibly even a window you have forgotten has missed the sun!
Though it is best practice to do heavy pruning like this in late Fall or in Winter, on occasion we get a client that is eager to have these things done as soon as possible and understands there is more of a risk when doing heavy pruning like this in the warmer months.
Here is my honest opinion though, both personally and as a business owner - we do heavy pruning in the colder months because it holds the least amount of risk and is the “best practice”, but I have NEVER seen a shrub not come back full force - no matter the season it is pruned in. And don’t worry - they always look funny at first, but wait until you see them take back off. Plants are just absolutely amazing! Scroll to see what a heavy prune can do for you!
