A large severe risk for Sunday stretches from Indiana to the Gulf Coast, but not all states will get the same thing. ⚡️
The winds inside the storms from the ground to 40,000 FT up are oriented a bit differently from north to south, which can directly influence what kind of thunderstorms we get state-by-state.
Indiana's primary threat will be damaging winds (yellow circle). We expect wind gusts to top 60-65 MPH Sunday evening and early night. There will still be a chance for a few tornadoes, especially around forward surges in the line of storms. There may also be a pop-up rotating storm before the line arrives, which could also create a tornado. However we still think that wind is the primary concern.
Southern Indiana starts to get into the next zone (red circle) where think there will be slightly more directional and speed shear in the low levels to have a bit higher of a tornado chance. Wind threats look pretty decent too.
Farther south, we think storms will be a bit more broken up. These storms may start as hail storms and with some tornado potential. Over time they should get a bit waterlogged for hail but still rotate.

We will do our best to give you our thoughts on specifics, but sometimes it can get confusing to focus on the "trees instead of the forest." Watch for severe storms across the Ohio River Valley and Mississippi River Valley. We should all get rain and thunder. In some places you will feel like the storms weren't so bad. Other places will get the full brunt of wind and maybe even a tornado. Make sure you have a plan for Sunday for when storms come: afternoon through early nightfall.
