Can’t stop STAIRing at this completed project!

I took this one back from the 90’s golden oak era and into a beautiful modern craftsman statement of this entry way. This was done in white oak wood with sleek square iron balusters

Also added some floating shelves to the under stair closet for some very functional storage!

It’s been a busy year thus far!

Here’s the bathroom project I completed first week of January that kick started the year off. Everything you see if new and fresh.

The shower is probably my favorite part, with the very unique accent tile with the matching niche.

Unique situation on this bathroom remodel…

This is the only bathroom with a shower so I hustled to get the demo done, reworking some electrical, redo the plumbing, get the tub installed and the waterproof backer board installed.

Today I got the shower all waterproofed and temporary installed the shower valve and faucet.

Believe it or not, tile and grout are NOT waterproof! It’s actually what’s behind them that creates the waterproof barrier. You could use this shower as is for decades and it wouldn’t hurt a thing. Tile just makes it look pretty.

My client was only without the shower for 4 days!

Same home, new look. When I’m not working to make my clients’ dreams come true, I’m working on redoing my own house, turning it into a home.

My wife and I bought our house 4 years ago. Like many pre-existing homes, it was mostly builder-grade, with some DIY’s done by the former owner. The day after we closed, we had a dumpster delivered and got to work. We lived on sub-flooring for 2 months, renovating in the pockets of our time while working our Finance jobs from home. Not long after that, Modern Oak Carpentry was born!

I’m currently scheduling estimates for staircase renovations, moulding/paneling, fireplace renovations, built-ins and other projects for the New Year. Reach out to discuss the projects you have in mind for 2025 and let’s get you on the schedule!

Hate those ugly drop ceilings that most basements have? Me too!

Here is my solution when you still want access to plumbing/electrical or for future ease of repair. A custom drop ceiling to mimic the looks of a coffered ceiling with removable panels for access above.

*Sprayed the finish on the ceiling first so now I can paint the walls and just cut in to the finished ceiling

Started flooring on my current basement finish project.

I’m using Cali Floors “Longboards” LVP series for the first time. I really like this product. These planks are 9” wide and 6’ long. Typically, most LVP products only goes up to about 6/7” wide and 4-5’ lengths.

The feel and finish of this flooring is second to none. Very realistic grain & color patterns.

Happy to be back on site today priming the walls and ceilings of this basement finish after a week of R&R in OBX, NC with my family.

R&D Drywalling Inc finished the drywall while I was away and kept the project moving forward. Mike did an absolute fantastic job. Excellent work and extremely clean jobsite this morning.

It’s always hard to step away from a project and can be a very stressful part of this business. It’s important to plan ahead and schedule sub-contractors to insure the project continues forward without delays.

Love this basement I was fortunate enough to complete for my clients!

We took this space from fully unfinished with concrete floors and some framing to a completely finished and usable space that this family can grow into for years to come.

It now has:

- A beautiful staircase, complete with a custom coat wall and shelf on the landing
- A secret kids’ nook under the steps with a custom sliding barn door and custom chalkboard and dry erase board combo
- A media/family room
- A home gym with mirrors and gym floor installed
- A bathroom with rain head shower
- A home office with accent wall
- A utility closet with all of the hookups for a fully functioning home office, and a touch keypad lock for childproofing
- An extra closet with a special shelf installed for cushions and a small table to be added to become Mom’s “she-closet”

Pictures don’t do the beauty and detail in this space justice. It was such a fun project and we’re grateful to these clients for being so amazing to work with, and for the opportunity!

There was unused space beneath the steps in this basement completion project I just finished up. The homeowners asked if it was possible to finish the space into an area for their small children.

I custom-fitted a sliding barn door, drywalled, painted and laid flooring in the space, and finished it with a custom dry erase and chalk board.

Love how this turned out! I take pride in each job being fully custom to fit my clients’ needs.
