Here I'm starting to shape the 1/8" brass strips to make the sides of the brass piece. I would have needed a 10' x 2" strip of brass, which I couldn't find, so i had to rivet together several shorter lengths.

Laying out the letters on 1/8" diamondplate aluminum. It's a lot easier to mark up the backside of this stuff. Also notice the layout is meant to maintain the diamond pattern's flow, rather than minimize waste.
