Rustic woodfired sauna build. These are black locust posts that came from a jobsite. The ridgepole is 25’ long. The sauna will be embedded into the hillside with a living roof. This has been a really fun project.

This is one of the large beeches at a local land trust property. A modest sized, snow storm came in and snapped this major branch. The goal of preventative tree care is to reduce the likelihood of large limb failure like this. This tree lost 20 percent or more of its canopy from this one event. For mature trees, that is severe. This tree has had treecare performed over its life with no fewer than 6 cables, but treecare is something that needs to be routinely tended to. Last meaningful pruning in this tree was maybe three decades ago. New cables have gone in, but no meaningful structural work. That ends up leaving an advanced mess that can take multiple years to stabilize. I am excited at the prospect of starting to work on these trees over the upcoming years.

The shed is coming together. It has morphed into a small wood working shop. Wood stove is in. Insulation tomorrow. More pics to follow.

The cherry trees are just starting to blossom on December 22 2015 at Whole Foods Melrose,MA. Something is strange.

The new Ravenswood storage shed in process. Made from materials I milled or picked up for free by the side of the road.

Nine weekends of milling. 155 pine logs, three mills and an armful of hard workers. We are done for the moment. Halleluyah.

I moved Micah's mill down to ipswich to start moving through some super sexy hardwood logs i have been amassing. Walnut, Sugar maple and Ash oh my!

Hi Folks

It has been a hectic season. Two dump trucks blew their motors on us early spring. I bought a new used dump truck in the spring. Just yesterday we purchased another dump truck as a support vehicle and back up chip truck. The backup dump will haul our mini skid steer to and from jobs. It has been a banner year for Ravenswood Tree and Landscape. Thanks for your support everyone.

Mike is our first intern for Ravenswood. He started today, he comes from Essex Technical High School, (which is probably the nicest high school I'll ever step foot in). He is with us three days a week until the school year ends. It's exciting to get back involved in education.
