For those of you with outdoor tankless water heaters… share to a friend

Outdoor tankless heaters have built in freeze protection AS LONG as they have power. However, the pipes going into the heater are susceptible to freezing. Best protection is a pipe cover with lots of insulation and heat tape is even better.
If you are worried about pipes freezing, run a small amount of hot water through fixture furthest away from heater. Enough water for a flow, but not enough for heater to fire up (less than .5gpm).
If your pipes do freeze, you can thaw them out with a hairdryer or low heat gun and some patience.

If you lose power and concerned about freezing..
Turn off main water at meter and open all pipe fixtures in house, including outdoor hosebibs, to drain all pressure from system.

There is also a draining procedure for different water heaters that you can easily find by googling the manual for your water heater brand and model.

None of these actions are difficult and if you are proactive then you can easily save yourself from having a plumbing emergency.

Good morning friends, The less experienced plumber often resorts to recommending replacements due to a lack of problem-solving expertise, implying it's not repairable. In contrast, I derive greater satisfaction from repairing rather than replacing. Anyone can replace a part, but resolving complex issues requires a true professional. If I advise replacement, rest assured that all repair options have been thoroughly explored. Consider this for a moment.
