Your AC is running, but the house still isn't cooling. Before you assume the worst, check the simple things first.

Make sure the thermostat is set to cool (not fan or heat) and set below room temp. Then check your filter, a clogged one restricts airflow and keeps the system from cooling right. After that, take a look at the outdoor unit. If the coil is dirty, it can't release the heat it's pulling from your home.

If you've checked all of that and it's still blowing warm, that's when it's worth having a technician take a look.

Another company told this homeowner they needed a full system replacement. Too old, too inefficient, not worth repairing — that's what they heard.

We came out and did a complete evaluation anyway. Refrigerant, capacitor, electrical, coils, all of it.

Turned out to be a bad capacitor and a small refrigerant leak at the service valve. A repair, not a replacement.
