In the spirit of International Women's Day, we here at Tatsumi wish to give a Tip of the Hat to an incredible woman in Landscape Architecture History, Beatrix Farrand.
“Beatrix Farrand was one of America’s most celebrated landscape architects, renowned for the private estate gardens she designed for East Coast society as well as her work as a landscape consultant at some of the country’s most prestigious private universities and colleges. Dumbarton Oaks, the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Garden (Maine), and the old campus at Princeton University are among her most visible masterpieces today. To this list several recent landscape restorations help enhance our understanding of this important early design professional.”

As we arrive closer to the end of the Winter Olympics, we have yet another Landscape Architectural gem from South Korea. Winning an award of its own in 2004, ASLA's Design Award of Merit. In the heart of Seoul on the Hahn River sits an eco-conscious park, repurposed from the old Sewage treatment plant. It is definitely a beautiful site to see!

The new administration in Washington has called for a huge increase in spending on transportation including roads, rails, and airports. Strategies for delivering these projects places an emphasis on the design/build methodology. How can landscape architects grab a piece of these upcoming projects?
