Cut off the bottom 4 inches of the siding and install a one by four that integrates with a Z bar on the wall siding once painted you can paint these new boards giving you a Dutch look. Don’t forget to primer your cuts and all sides. This way the next Roofer can pull off the one by fours to redo the flashing and put them back.

I love the redundancy of a built-up roof.
Funny thing about a built-up roof is that it is flat. And a flat roof can be as steep as a 2/12. And the asphalt we use on flat roof is called steep.

I guess you don’t have to paint it if you can’t see it. The reason there is brick on the backside is because Masonry is heavy and this chimney is on the outside wall. If you do put Masonry, you have to put steel posts to hold it up because you can’t put Masonry on Wood.

Don’t pull the bullet out of the roof. The compression will minimize leakage compared to a wide open hole. There are three ways to stop water. This is the first one, like a cork the compression keeps water from passing. You can shed water, return using gravity or or use adhesive to stop the water. A little bit of glue on the flap of an envelope stops the water. If you try to stomp the water with the adhesive on top of the lap, it will break as soon as there is a little bit of movement.. In retrospect, there are three ways to turn water:: gravity, shedding, and gluing.

After the wood shingles were removed, there was almost 50% coverage of one by four lab to apply the decking too. That would eliminate the worthwhile of radiant barrier decking. You would have so much contract with Wood that the conduction would destroy the Venturi between the soffits and Ridge. The one by two furring strips, give you the same amount of wood coverage that the decking chases.

This putty was installed around the gas flue pipe to keep the Venturi from the soffit to the ridges from being broken.

According to building codes, the double wall flue pipe for gas appliances must be kept away from the decking so a fire does not start. These vents are just held in place by gravity and occasionally have a strap. For the most part, they are just their stable with a slight Twist. About 500 people a year die because the double wall flew by separates and the spent gas gets into the home. The pipe consists of an inner aluminum pipe with an outer steel pipe. That allows the humidity to stay away from steel. The aluminum exterior pipe is to keep you from burning the fire out of your hand when you touch it.

According to building codes and manufacturers specifications, a mansard roof must be installed with six nails. The best shingle for the job is the Gaf timberline XTZ because it has a very wide nail line of double thick material to keep the material from falling off.
