As much as we enjoyed this project, and the last few stamped concrete jobs, we are seriously considering stepping away from offering stamped concrete.
The expectations being created by ChatGPT, Grok, Gemini, Google, YouTube, and the internet in general are becoming unrealistic and, in some cases, flat out impossible.
Stamped concrete is not paint. It is not tile. It is not epoxy. It is not a printed picture. It is concrete.
AI can give opinions all day long, but AI does not pour patios or driveways. AI does not know what mix design came out of the plant that day. AI does not know the temperature, the humidity, the wind, the timing, how all of those exact weather factors at the exact temperature/humidity/UV/Wind affected the set and cure time, the sealer, the antiquing process, the slope, or the million other real-world variables that affect decorative concrete.
AI can tell a customer what it thinks went wrong, but without the full context, that answer is usually incomplete at best, and completely wrong at worst.
Stamped concrete has natural variation. Color will not look like paint. It never has, and it never will.
So going forward, if you find something on our website, in our photo albums, or from one of our completed projects and say, “I want that,” then we can have that conversation. That is a realistic expectation.
But if the expectation is something created by AI, filtered photos, or internet advice from people who were not there and do not understand the job, then stamped concrete probably is not something we are going to offer.
This wave of unrealistic expectations is not for us, and we are not going to fight it.
