The Forte–Gramercy Joint Venture, alongside the MTA, Lead Designer Stantec, and the Naik–STV JV PMC team, continues to advance construction on EL 414 at Flushing-Main Street Station as part of the 37 Elevators Project. EL 414 is a street-to-platform elevator connecting Roosevelt Avenue and the 7-line platform.
Current work is focused within the hoistway and Elevator Machine Room, where teams are installing conduit runs, switch boxes, and other components that will support operation of the modernized elevator system.
One of the most notable aspects of the project is the depth of the hoistway, which extends nearly 38 feet from street level to the platform below. At street level, the entrance serving EL 414 will incorporate the curved canopy design introduced during Phase 3. Unlike the straight canopies used on earlier phases, the updated design was selected to enhance the appearance of the street-level structure.
