Let's talk about the word LIFETIME and how roofing contractors fool you by making it sound so good.
Important Caveat
Most "lifetime warranties" are actually limited lifetime warranties, meaning:
They cover defects in materials or workmanship, and majority of the time they will find something wrong that doesnt fall on their improperly installed roofs, so as the homeowner you will be charged for said repair.
They do not cover normal wear and tear, abuse, neglect, accidents, storms, or improper installation. You might be lucky to get the same company that offered the lifetime warranty on materials and labor to even come back out. Reason why is because they dont stand behind their work or products, they'd rather use LIFETIME terminology to convey to you that you're getting a roof that will last forever.
"Lifetime" is usually defined as the life of the product or the period you own it.
For roofing, when homeowners hear "lifetime warranty," it almost always means a limited lifetime manufacturer warranty! A good workmanship warranty from the contractor is just as important as the shingle warranty.
Here at Islands A Ton Roofing LLC we offer competitive warranties backed by Atlas Shingles, Underlayments & Ventilation limited LIFETIME warranties that are transferable. So dont fall victim to the word LIFETIME, because we never know how long a lifetime is and neither does a honest roofing company.
