We meet on Wednesdays at 4:40pm in Plant Science room G22, and we hold plant sales on most Fridays all across campus but most frequently at Mann Library Lobby. Come stop by! "What is Hortus Forum?" you may ask...
Hortus Forum is Cornell’s horticulture club. We grow a wide variety of houseplants on campus in the Kenneth Post Lab greenhouses. We hold weekly plant sales to maintain greenhouse costs
, fund educational horticulture trips, service projects, and community social events. Past trips have been to Costa Rica, Longwood garden, Puerto Rico, Holland, and Florida. We also hold a variety of social events during the year with other interests groups. Here are some of the things on which we pride ourselves:
-Promoting the great interest in Horticulture among members of the Cornell community. Everyone has some connection to horticulture. No matter how small it may be, this is a common interest that can bring people together who may have little else in common. As a club, we like to provide elements of horticulture that can unite the Cornell community.
-To conduct social, educational, and service activities for the benefit of the club's members and the Cornell community. As a club, we like to give back to the community by aiding in horticulturally-based service activities. These activities can range from weeding a flower bed to designing a children's garden. In this way, the community benefits from our input and our members benefit from the hands-on experience.
-To raise funds for current activities and to promote the continuation of the club in future years. This is where our plant sales come into the picture. They allow us to utilize horticulture to promote the club's activities. As long as people have such a primordial relationship with plants, our club will be able prosper for many years to come. We have plant sales to fund our club most Fridays at Mann Library. Our plants are grown and taken care of by our club members in a Cornell greenhouse on Tower Road (Kenneth Post Labs near the Vet School). Please stop by and ask about our selection of houseplants!
