School is back in session, which means football season is right around the corner.

There’s nothing quite like a fall Friday night under the lights - packed stands, the marching band, the student section and a community coming together to cheer on their hometown team.

At Cochran Electric, we’re proud to have played a part in lighting local athletic fields and helping make those Friday night traditions possible. The work we do isn’t always just about electricity. Sometimes, it’s about lighting the field where memories are made.

100 years in business means there are a few stories in the archives worth sharing.

Decades ago, Cochran Electric President LaVerne Cochran was named “Boss of the Year” by the Cascadia Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association.

The recognition went well beyond his work at Cochran Electric. The article highlights LaVerne’s involvement throughout the Jackson community - serving local organizations, supporting the electrical trade and apprenticeship programs, and contributing his time to the community he called home.

But one part stands out to us most: his employees described him as kind, generous and thoughtful.

As Cochran Electric celebrates 100 years in business, we’re proud that the values behind the company have remained just as important as the work itself - supporting our employees, investing in our community and taking care of the people who put their trust in us.
