If only I grew my own aloe šŸŒž

I have an empty glass jar so I think my next move is to create a terrarium for this Venus Fly Trap! I couldn’t resist the $8 price tag so now this project has been bumped to the top of my plant to-do list.

I just need to make sure it gets about 4-6 hours of direct sun each day, I water with rain water or RO/DI water only, and remember NOT to feed it.

Stay tuned to see how this turns out!

Lotus Saga: Season 2, Episode 3
I’m already ahead of where I was at this time last year. I failed to get them these lotus seeds to bloom in 2025 but now that they’ve had a chance to mature, I have a positive outlook that I’ll get some flowers by the end of the summer!

The only thing standing in my way is myself. I need to stay on top of maintenance, otherwise all this effort will go to waste.

Do you think they’ll bloom this year?!

Aside from the lotus pond and tropical gardens, the capybaras have a special place in my heart. Not to mention that my husband says I look like one šŸ˜†

Goes to the nursery for another cactus and leaves WITH A SUCCULENT! šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø Whatever, I still like it! It’s a variegated Indian Corn Cob cactus (Euphorbia mammillaris variegata).

I guess I’m entering my cactus era. What should I get next?!

I partner with because need gym clothes that can handle running, lifting, HYROX prep, and the emotional damage of wall balls.

Centric understood the assignment.

I’ve worn their gear through training, race weekends, and Florida humidity, and it’s become a go-to for hybrid sessions where I’m bouncing between strength work, conditioning, and pretending I like sled pushes.

Orchid water culture update: the office rescues are still alive! A few things I’m watching:

firm roots > mushy roots
hydrated leaves = progress
water in the crown = absolutely not

I’m keeping a little water at the bottom and refilling when it dries. I’m a set it and forget it type plant dad šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

Light is bright but not harsh.

Would you try water culture, or are you emotionally attached to bark?

Did you know that all air plants (Tillandsia) belong to the Bromeliaceae family, meaning every air plant is a bromeliad, but not every bromeliad is an air plant?!

ā€œBromeliadā€ usually refers to plants that form a water-holding tank (tank bromeliads) and grow in soil or on trees. Air plants get nearly all moisture and nutrients from the air via specialized leaf scales called trichomes.

Do you have any bromeliads?

05/05/2026

Bromeliads are one of the most underrated plants! They produce colorful bracts (long last blooms) that hold color for 2-4 months, and then they’ll give you a pup (baby plant) after they bloom!

Watering is easy. Since the can absorb it through their leaves, just make sure the center cup has some water in it.

If you keep them outside, drop a few mosquito but pellets in the cup to kill of mosquito larvae.

Did you also know that the amount of light they receive can change the color and shape of their leaves?

Of course there are some species that are harder to care for, but most that you can find at your local plant store are generally easy.

What are your thoughts on the ā€œBromeliadā€?

Dried fruit is adult candy. Prove me wrong.

I tend to fade about 45-50 minutes into my workouts despite fueling well beforehand. So when I’m in an hour-long HIIT class, I like to bring some dried fruit or fruit leather to get me over the finish line. It’s a nice change up from the energy gels I use on my runs.

What’s your go-to mid workout snack?

A Hidden jungle in the city, Sunken Gardens is a 100+ year old historic botanical attraction right in the middle of St. Pete. It started out as a sinkhole (hence the name) and evolved into a tropical paradise. It’s one of the last remaining original Florida ā€˜roadside attractions’ and was worth every minute spent inside.

Now if only I could get my backyard to look like this back in Jacksonville šŸ˜…

A highly recommended to-do item if you’re visiting the area!
