3,750 LF of force main. 12 access pits. 9 weeks. 2 phases.
In Riviera Beach, our crews pipe burst a failing 16-inch cast iron force main and upsized it to an 18-inch HDPE. Excavation was limited to 12 access pits instead of a continuous trench through residential streets. Combined, the pits spanned about 120 LF, roughly 3 percent of the alignment, and totaled about 160 cubic yards of excavation. An open-cut trench of the same depth would have required more than 15 times that volume, even assuming a narrow 3-foot width with vertical walls.
Phases I and II took a combined 9 weeks from mobilization through restoration, well ahead of the original anticipated timeline.
Thank you to Richard Gallant and the Riviera Beach Utility Special District for choosing trenchless and trusting our team with this critical line.
