I always have a saw in the truck. My friend Ricky was concerned about this big pine that had started leaning. So we went ahead and laid it down. Could have used a bigger saw but you use what you’ve got.

The honey bee tulip poplar removal. This one is really pushing our capabilities! But we are dedicated to minimizing any damage to the bees and safely removing this tree at the same time.

THE POWER OF THE RESISTOGRAPH!
We have been so excited to bring this machine into our community. Sorry if this is a bit long winded. But we have been serving Onslow county for a little over a decade. We have been brought in countless times to observe large trees that have home owners feeling worried. It is an absolute shame to cut down any old growth if it can be saved. But even the most experienced tree experts are limited to what we can see. This machine allows us to see what is going on inside the tree. This not only helps us determine the strength of a tree but can also help establish where a problem has started. Knowing if the problem started in the roots or up top is invaluable to making these decisions. In the pictures above we have a very old tulip poplar. There are signs of stress along the trunk, along with two co dominant tops that are in decline. The resistograph shows four reading at breast height. Preformed in a North, East, South, and West position. We have strong wood up to 14 inches at best and as little as 6 inches of wood on opposing sides. This tree is Approximately 40 inches across at breast height. Meaning that all heart wood is compromised and the rot is moving into the essential layers that provide the tree nutrients. With weight reduction and thinning we could potentially buy this tree a few more years. However with its size and location the parties involved have decided it would be best to remove this tree now so we still have some integral wood to work with. It was a difficult decision that would have been almost impossible to make without the additional information provided by the resistograph. Follow our page for updates on the removal.
