Quick Tie Products, Inc. manufactures and distributes "The Quick Tie System", a patented hold down system for high wind and seismic construction. Our main offices are located in Jacksonville, Florida. Our products are sold through lumber yards and component manufactures who are licensed by Quick Tie Products, Inc. The major product line consists of wire rope cables which are made to connect to the
top plate of the wall and travel inside the wall to the foundation. The product is highly tested and engineered, and is called Quick Tie System. The system is installed after the building is framed. This simple and flexible system of steel cable and connectors pre-stresses the wood structure. Because the wire elastic and stretches, it can be “pre-stressed” to produce zero movement and compensate for building settling and long term wood shrinkage. Shrinkage and movement are a common problem in wood framed buildings. When the building is exposed to dead loads as it is being built, deflections develop, creating a “loose” load path to the foundation. Loose structural connectors allow movement which causes the building to be “pulled apart” until these parts become tight, during high winds. This movement is also one of the major contributors to drywall and exterior siding cracks. By pre-stressing to a design load for 90-150 mph winds, Quick Ties are designed to allow zero movement until the forces applied, (wind or seismic) reach the pre-stress load. They simply cinch the wood frame to its foundation! Quick Ties are easy to inspect. At installation, the pre-stress load exceeds the design load by 20%; therefore “proof-testing” each Quick Tie when installed. Quick Tie also makes a variety of metal connectors to tie the roof to the top plate of the wall. The Quick Tie System has been installed in thousands of structures since its inception. The product has been used in wood framed commercial, single family, and multi-family homes. Quick Ties have been used in new construction, restoration projects, and in existing projects that require up-dating to current codes when renovated. Quick Ties have been used on projects in the United States in the states of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia, New York, Michigan, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Wyoming. The Quick Tie System has been installed in the following U.S. Military Housing projects: Keesler Air Force Base, Biloxi, Mississippi; NCBC Gulfport, Gulfport, Mississippi; Barksdale Air Force Base, Shreveport, Louisiana; Little Rock Air Force Base, Little Rock, Arkansas; and, Langley Air Force Base, Hampton, Virginia. The System is also being installed in HUD projects and low income housing projects such as the Hope VI project in Mobile, Alabama that is currently under construction.
