𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞’𝐬 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐲 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝟏𝟕𝟎 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐭𝐨 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞. ✨

Built in 1855, the Lorenzo Bull House is still home to its original quarter-sawn red oak floors. This beautiful style of milling highlights the oak’s shimmering ray-fleck grain while producing boards built for remarkable stability and longevity.

And those boards had already lived quite a life before becoming a floor—the trees may have been 100–180 years old when harvested, with some possibly taking root in the late 1600s or 1700s!

We weren’t here to make these floors look brand-new. We were here to honor every year, every step and every story—then give it all a beautiful new glow.

Thank you to the Quincy Preserves and the Friends of the Lorenzo Bull House for trusting us with such a special piece of Quincy’s story. What an incredible project!

1st Day working at the Lorenzo Bull House in Quincy, IL. This historic home is going to be restored to its original beauty soon!

Our team is taking out carpet to expose the wood floors beneath. We will be replacing damaged planks and refinishing the wood floors as part of the restoration, and we're glad to be part of the process.
