Yes, we’ve shared this one before. But in honor of National Dog Day, this pool-loving face deserved another moment.

We love it when the dogs enjoy the pool just as much as their humans do.

The pool gets the glory. The pavers make the backyard work.

They frame the water, connect the fire feature and seating areas, and give the entire space a finished, intentional feel.

Because a great outdoor space isn’t designed one feature at a time. Every element should look like it belonged there all along.

Pools. Pavers. Outdoor spaces.

Remember the pool we flew into the courtyard of a 100+ year-old Riverside fourplex?

It's come a long way.

The pool is in. The pavers are going down. Tile work is underway. And you can finally start to see what this courtyard is going to become.

Still very much a work in progress.

But ohhhh, this one is going to be good.

Just wait until you see it finished.

Apparently, we have a type.

Meet Nick. And Nick. And Nic.

Nick M. - Owner extraordinaire, pool guy, and BBQ master. He builds pools for a living and competes over smoked meat for fun. Because apparently one obsession wasn't enough. And apparently the person responsible for starting what has become a statistically improbable concentration of Nicks.

Nick USA - The man, the myth, the legend. Excavator operator. Pool-flight director. Problem solver. If something needs to be done, there's a pretty good chance Nick can do it. And if you've ever watched one of our pools fly over a house, he's the guy on the ground making it look easy.

Nic B. - The man behind our South Florida operations. He's spent 20 years in the pool business, speaks four languages, and once owned a hotel in Haiti. When he's not building pools, his preferred combination seems to be beach + good scotch + cigar + tiny puppy. Nobody really know his whole story...and honestly, it's probably better that way.

Different jobs. Different personalities. Same name.

At this point, yelling “Hey, Nick!” on a Hydra job site is probably not particularly helpful. 😂

You’ve seen the finished pool. Here’s what you didn’t see.

Before this project ever got to the dig, there were setbacks, site plans and a variance that had to be approved.

So Nick went before the St. Johns County Planning & Zoning Agency, presented the project and helped get it across the finish line.

The vote: 7–0. Unanimously approved.

Building a pool isn’t always just about what happens in the backyard. Sometimes the work starts long before the excavator ever shows up.

Permits. Setbacks. Approvals. Knowing how to navigate the process.

That’s part of the build, too.

Sometimes a small pool requires a very big crane.

A 50-ton crane, to be exact.

Up, over the house and into the backyard — with Florida weather making sure we didn’t waste any time.

Pool landed.

Storm arrived.

Perfect timing.
