Downtown Jacksonville’s dining scene is getting a new addition, and we’re proud to help bring it to life 🥩

We’re proud to serve as General Contractor for the upcoming Oak Steakhouse, bringing a new dining experience to the ground floor of the historic Greenleaf building at Laura and Adams streets.

Led by The Indigo Road Hospitality, Oak Steakhouse will transform the former Jacobs Jewelers space into an upscale dining destination featuring a full-service restaurant and bar, adding another reason to experience the heart of Downtown.

Having already played a role in the restoration of The Greenleaf, we’re excited to continue our work within this iconic building alongside JWB Real Estate Capital and the project team.

The project recently received approval for a $400,000 incentive from the Downtown Investment Authority to support the restaurant’s build-out. This is exciting news for our team and another positive step forward in bringing this project to life.

We’re proud to be part of the continued investment in Downtown Jacksonville, preserving the character of historic spaces while creating new destinations for our community.

Building a stronger Downtown takes more than projects. It takes people and businesses willing to invest in its future.

Avant is proud to be a founding member of Downtown Vision’s inaugural membership program, supporting the work happening every day to keep Downtown Jacksonville clean, safe, welcoming and moving forward.

From advocacy and placemaking to marketing, research and on-the-ground services, Downtown Vision plays an important role in creating a Downtown where businesses, residents and visitors can thrive. We’re proud to invest in that work and encourage other Jacksonville businesses to find their place in it, too.

This week also marked the end of an era as Jake Gordon wraps up his final week as CEO of Downtown Vision, Inc.. Over the last 12 years, Jake has brought tremendous energy, vision and commitment to Downtown Jacksonville.

Jake, thank you for your leadership, your friendship and for always believing in what Downtown can become.

There’s a lot of momentum in , and we’re excited to keep building on it together.

There’s a lot to be proud of in Jacksonville, and last night’s ULI North Florida Awards were a great reminder of what’s being built, restored and reimagined across our city 🏙️

Avant had the opportunity to serve as General Contractor on three finalist projects: The Greenleaf & Crosby Building, Glen Kernan Club Renovation & Golf Course Redesign and The Raven Jax. We were especially excited to see theravenjax receive the Judges’ Choice Award and to celebrate alongside the JWB Real Estate Capital team as The Greenleaf won the Urban Development category.

Every project recognized represents thoughtful investment in our city. We’re proud to play a role in that work, especially through historic preservation that gives significant Jacksonville spaces new life while maintaining the character and history that make them special.

None of it happens without strong partnerships between owners, developers, architects, designers and trade partners. Congratulations to all of this year’s finalists and winners. We’re proud to build alongside you.

In July we announced the acquisition of Ladson Construction a deal we’d been working on behind the scenes for quite some time.

Jessie and Alan sat down with the Jacksonville Business Journal for a “Behind the Deal” interview, talking about how it all came together and what it means to bring an 85+ person team under one roof.

We’re proud of what Avant and Ladson have built separately, and even more excited about what we can build together.

Progress is taking shape at the future Hotel Merrydelle 🧱

Formerly known as the Ambassador Hotel, this historic property is well into its next chapter. Our team is moving full steam ahead with demolition, interior clean up and prep, along with exterior improvements including new windows and building enclosure work.

Every phase brings this landmark one step closer to welcoming guests again, and we’re proud to be part of bringing new life to a piece of Jacksonville’s history with Gateway Jax.
