👇⚠️Viewer discretion (long paragraph)⚠️👇
I used to ask myself, “What am I doing here?” 18 years old, starting over, trying to figure out if I was even making the right decision. I didn’t know what the future was going to look like, and honestly, I wasn’t sure this was the path I wanted.
Looking back, I realize I had some pretty amazing people around me who believed in me before I even knew how much I needed them.
Friends who became family and pushed me to get back into my own gear. A girlfriend who constantly reminds me to stay positive and believe in what I’m building. A mom who has always believed in me. And a grandpa who has been teaching me everything he knows. Lord knows he’s built up some patience over the years, because I sure do test it every once in a while.
A wise man once told me to have patience.
That same wise man also told me, “You don’t get where you want to be by being patient.”
I think I’m finally starting to understand what he meant.
You have to be patient enough to know that things take time, but hungry enough to keep moving when nobody else can see where you’re going.
This path is for me. And you have to love it.
You’re going to have bad days. Bad weeks. Bad months. There will be times you question whether any of it is worth it.
But if you’re not obsessed with it, you’re already losing to someone who is.
And being obsessed with it doesn’t mean just talking about it.
It means sitting out there at 11 PM with the lights on your skid steer shining across the ground because you need to see where you’re raking before the sod shows up at 7 AM the next morning.
It means being tired and doing it anyway.
It means learning from the people around you, making mistakes, getting back up, and continuing to build something that didn’t exist before you started.
I’ve met some really good people along the way already, and I’m grateful for every one of them.
I still don’t have everything figured out by no means. I’m still a long way from where I want to be.
But I don’t ask myself, “What am I doing here?” quite as much anymore.
I think I’m finally starting to realize that I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.
