During a blizzard, wind matters a lot.

When winds exceed about 35 mph, our crews cannot safely use bucket trucks to make overhead repairs. That means restoration work may pause until conditions improve — even if crews are already staged nearby.

Snow day checklist:
☑️ Clear driveway
☑️ Shovel walkway
☑️ Dig out around your home generator

Heavy snow can block vents and airflow around your automatic generator. This can affect its operation .
Please make sure it’s cleared out so it can run safely and reliably during a power outage. ⚡️❄️ 🏠

🚨❄️ WINTER SAFETY WARNING ❄️🚨

Heavy snow might look pretty… but it can be dangerous if it’s blocking your home’s exterior vents.

If snow covers your furnace, dryer, or exhaust vents, it can cause:
⚠️ Carbon monoxide buildup
⚠️ Poor furnace performance
⚠️ System shutdowns
⚠️ Fire hazards

After every big snowfall (especially with drifting snow), take a few minutes to:
✔️ Check all exterior vents
✔️ Clear snow at least 1–2 feet around them
✔️ Make sure air can flow freely

This is especially important for newer high-efficiency furnaces that vent out the side of the house.
Make sure your carbon monoxide detectors are in working order , fresh batteries if not hard wired. Also, make sure not to run generators in enclosed garages should you lose power .
