Not my best work, but got a request from a FB friend. 🙂:
Lord have mercy
A hundred years and a lot of back,
We built our river town,
But, The lifeblood turned violent,
Our homes brought down.
Lord have mercy,
Don’t let the river rise,
Keep us dry,
This is not how this town dies.
The mountain sides slide,
The roads no longer provide a path,
The rapids takes its due,
The result of the rivers wrath.
Lord have mercy,
We are doing our best,
Keep us dry,
Don’t let the river crest.
The water took our home,
Had to learn a new way to cope,
But, we can rebuild,
the storm did not take our hope.
Lord have mercy,
The river flows,
Pray for us all,
And,
Pray to protect our souls.
