Fiberglass Mold Maker/Lead Technician

Are you a detail-oriented craftsperson who likes working in a hands-on environment creating products from start to finish? Consider joining Capstone Surfaces (formerly CMP Group) today! Upon creating carefully constructed custom molds, we use engineered composites to manufacture modern alternatives to marble and granite products creating custom surfaces for home and mobile applications. If you have fiberglass production experience or have worked in construction or auto body shops, this may be a good fit for you.
Job Duties:

Create fiberglass molds to meet customer product specifications. Competently complete all process steps including:
• Creation of finished product prototypes or plugs from various materials including, but not limited to MDF, foam, wood, SMC, tile, or other materials.
• Preparation of prototype/plug to meet surface quality and dimensional requirements
• Proper application of tooling gel coat, fiberglass (chopper gun or mat), and structural material to maximize mold stability, mold life, and meet finished product requirements.
• Repair and maintain production molds as required.

Create molded fiberglass products to meet customer specifications. Competently complete all process steps including:

• Transfer materials to and from production and storage areas
• Perform polishing, cleaning, and waxing of molds in preparation for the application of fiberglass
• Correctly mix and apply gel coats
• Create molded fiberglass products using a fiberglass chopper gun and/or fiberglass mat; roll fiberglass into designated mold ensuring uniform application and depth
• Repair completed fiberglass products as needed
• Measure dimensions of products or workpieces to verify conformance to specifications
• Release cured product from molds using various hand tools and machinery
• Precision grind excess material from the fabricated part, finish sand with high attention to detail to ensure a custom fit

Preferred Qualifications
• 5 or more years of experience in fiberglass mold creation and maintenance.
• 5 or more years experience in the production of fiberglass products
• Solid understanding of materials used in the production of fiberglass parts as well as mold creation
• Experience in a fiberglass product production environment
• Ability to accurately read a tape measure and other measuring tools.
• Ability to work with hands and to work in mechanically oriented situations
• Aptitude to learn and retain new information.
• Ability to follow instructions, given either verbally or in writing.
• Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English
• Ability to work in the US without sponsorship

**Salary negotiable**
