Framed by oaks. Defined by design.
Built in 1966, 6020 Garfield Street captures the quiet elegance of New Orleans modernism—a rare collaboration between architect John W. Lawrence, former dean of Tulane’s School of Architecture, and renowned landscape architect Robert Royston.
Every path, line, and sightline was shaped around the property’s live oaks—an intentional act of preservation that redefined how modern design could coexist with the natural rhythm of New Orleans landscapes. 🌿
Featured in our ASLA 2025 Field Session, Garden Design in New Orleans Does Not Have to Be a Secret, this property stands as proof that thoughtful design and a shared vision between architect, client, and landscape architect can truly stand the test of time.
