🌧️ Rain is coming! 🍅
If you have tomatoes that have started to turn pink, now is a good time to pick them! Too much rain can cause ripe or ripening tomatoes to split.
Don’t worry if they aren’t fully ripe yet — simply bring them inside and lay them on a piece of paper to finish ripening. Even tomatoes with just a hint of color change will continue to ripen off the vine.
🍅 Pick ’em before the rain and enjoy those beautiful homegrown tomatoes!

My artichoke plants went to flower last year, so I collected all the seeds and decided to see what would happen. I kept them in the greenhouse over the winter so they could go through a natural cold stratification, then planted them this spring.
They're starting to sprout, and I'm so excited that it actually worked! 🌱💚
Now the next test is whether these little plants will overwinter successfully. Fingers crossed they'll make it through and grow into healthy, productive artichokes next year! 🤞

These came from my Mortgage Lifter tomato plant, but they're definitely not Mortgage Lifters. The seeds I received were labeled as Mortgage Lifters, but I'm not going to stress over it because we still ended up with some huge, beautiful tomatoes!

I hope if you purchased Mortgage Lifter seeds, you got the big, round, red tomatoes with that pinkish blush that I was expecting. I'm sorry if you were disappointed.

End of Summer Plant Sale 🌱
We will be closing for the rest of the summer starting August 1st.
We still have a few spaghetti squash, butternut squash, and cucumber plants available. Come grab them before they end up in the compost bin!
Vegetable plants only (this does not include flowers or trees).
If you bring your own pots and transfer the plants yourself, leaving our pots behind, there is no charge.
We'd love to see these plants go to good homes rather than the compost!

If you've never tried Zucchini Scarpaccia, you're in for a treat! 🥒🇮🇹
I first tasted this amazing Italian specialty while visiting Italy, and I've been thinking about it ever since. Despite looking a bit like a flatbread, it's made mostly with fresh zucchini, along with a simple batter that lets the flavor of the zucchini shine.
It's light, savory, and perfect as an appetizer, side dish, or even a light lunch. If your garden is overflowing with zucchini, this is another delicious way to put them to good use!
There are plenty of recipes online, each with its own regional twist. If you decide to make one, let me know how it turns out—and whether you like it as much as I did!

Another favorite garden meal at our house is what I call "Garden Gather Meal." 🌱

It changes depending on what the garden is giving us, so every batch is a little different. We just gather what we have, toss it together, and somehow it always turns out delicious!

This one has:
🥬 Fresh green beans
🧄 Garlic
🫒 Olive oil
🧂 Sea salt
🌭 Kielbasa

Everything goes into a foil pan, gets covered with foil, and cooks on the gas BBQ for about 45 minutes. It's an easy summer dinner that keeps the house cool because there's no need to turn on the oven.

The best part is how versatile it is! We've swapped the green beans for sweet peas, carrots, zucchini, beets, and even radishes—and every version has been a hit.

What's your favorite garden veggie to cook on the grill? We'd love to hear your ideas! 🥕🥒🌽
