And just like that.........MLB Electric is gone.......bittersweet, but not a bad thing at all, as it's something that had to happen as I transition to a more relaxed schedule. My good friends from Briggs Electric have taken on my customer list and will be doing the lion's share of the work for all of you that have trusted me over the years. I'm pleased to introduce you to Chris Wooldridge (616-889-9900) and Keith Krebill (616-278-4819). Chris & Keith will take care of you the same as I've tried to since I started MLB Electric in October of 2008. Please note the phone numbers and give them the same support as you've given me. I'm still going to be around to help "the guys" as they need, or take on some small stuff on my own as my time permits 😀

When I started this thing, I was thinking I could make a go of it but times weren't great and I was thinking it would be a crap shoot for a bit....but, a very good friend handed me a couple of months of work immediately and it kind of went from there. Learning curves were there then and they stayed the whole time proving you don't ever know it all. Endless thanks to the best Vice President a company could have, Linda Boruta (Mrs. MLB)...also thanks to all the people who hired me to do their work, and not only had me back for more, but also referred me to their friends and family. That is how a small business survives...

I am very proud of what I was able to build with your help....please give "the guys" the same trust and respect you gave to me.......

Tomorrow, I start Year #13.....when I started back in 2008, I thought I could make it work but wasn't sure....slowly but surely with the help of so many people, I did make it work and continue to try my best to provide quality work while keeping the cost manageable...A Huge Thank You to all who have trusted me with the work at your home, business or elsewhere!! MLB Electric, where I'm always looking to "Hit It Out Of The Park"!!

Hoping everyone is doing alright....had a job today & just had to vent a little bit. Turns out the husband & his dad did the wiring for their basement remodel/finish...there's more than a few things wrong, starting with the light on the top of the stairs has stayed on for 2 years, and the lights on the base of the stairs worked only if you had the switches the right way....followed by the basement bedroom has issues....and, oh my the way, another basement bedroom light will only turn on by using a switch in an UPSTAIRS bedroom...wishing I was joking, but I'm not...and now the basement is completely drywalled...
A really good question to ponder with a lead in...I would never pretend to know how to sell insurance, fix a car, design whatever it is you need designed, whatever your job is.....WHY is it that everyone knows how to wire things?? Folks that "know" how to do it, they get it done and it works....they think they did it correctly!! Except not so much...90% of the time I deal with what I dealt with today....
Please let me or someone qualified to do those things that "those things you think you can do".....

This morning's job makes this pic ring true...my new customer (only mine now because the electrician that started the job last summer won't respond to her for the past 3 months) relied on a referral from someone to a certain builder who had an electrician he used. I've spent over a day "cleaning up his mess" until today when I cut in a hole in the new ceiling for new kitchen lighting....I found live wiring inside, no box, not capped or taped off....now I'm waiting for the contractor to call me and have him take whatever part of that brand new ceiling apart so I can do the job right....Every tradesman is up to his neck right now, and I know that everyone wants their job done today, but take a step back if anyone can show up in a heartbeat....there might be a reason they have time to spare.....Happy New Year to my loyal customers!!

You just never know....not exactly a short story....I went to a customer's house yesterday...their garage had no power...I called ahead of time to let him know I was on my way, he told me that they were ok until noon and than they had to go to an appointment. Assured him I would be well before that, and showed up, diagnosed the problem...agreed he would do what he could to help with my Monday morning return to fix the problem....wished them both a good rest of the day and left.....He called me back today....he wanted to cancel Monday's appointment because the appointment he had spoke of was for a cat-scan for his wife, who had been having seizures this summer....and a brain tumor was found...I had just talked to them both, everything was fine and nothing prepared me for this...I'm a huge proponent of Paying It Forward, so I told him to leave his back door unlocked for me, as they've done before, and while he's looking after his wife, I will make sure his garage power is working. A simple thing like hitting your garage door button seems minuscule, but he couldn't stop thanking me for taking just 1 thing off of his plate.....I'm hoping for a favorable outcome from her diagnosis, which they won't know until tomorrow, but you just never know...Kind of a "Take You Out At The Knees" kind of day.....

Happy Pulaski Days from Linda & I....Have Fun, Be Safe, and remember, everyone's Polish this weekend!!!

I worked for the building owner on this unit before he rented it out and saw numerous problems....the renter asked me for a price to provide him with power for his lift....he didn't call me back and "did him himself" because "the wallet was tight" and what you see here was only a fraction of what was wrong...I was back to do another job and discovered his "work"...on top of that there was another "do it yourself" project this guy had done....I won't be working in this building again....Please consider what I do for a living seriously!! Do I walk into your workplace and tell you how to do your job??? No I don't.... but everyone seems to know how to do mine...if it works, they think they did it correctly...At best, not even close...at worst, a disaster in the making....

Thank You to All who helped me into my 10th year!!!

If I have to work on a Saturday because of a storm, it's very nice to know that those customers appreciate that work...a check paid in full in less than a week and a happy customer...Nothing Better!!

Losing power isn't fun, and especially not fun when your electrical equipment is damaged because of a storm...happy to say I worked a long day getting people's equipment back to working status...tired but well worth it!!
